Christmas Music: Frosty The Snowman

Devenu un chant de Christmas très populaire auprès des enfants, Frosty the Snowman succède à Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, autre chanson inspirée par un personnage. Ces deux succès ont également quelques autres points en commun puisque dans un premier temps, ils ont été écrits par les mêmes co-auteurs, soit Walter Jack Rollins et Steve Nelson. Dans un second temps, Frosty the Snowman a été enregistré par Gene Autry en 1950, au même titre d’ailleurs que son succès précédent, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Qui plus est, les deux chansons ont été adaptées pour la télévision, et les deux personnages ont donné birth à des films, présentés sous forme de dessins animés.

Frosty the Snowman was so popular with little ones that in 2003, it was decided to create an official MySpace page in his image. Initially, the page was published with only one goal: to provide children of all ages with a simple pastime. However, it was so successful that it has since become a favorite place for Frosty fans, who even have the opportunity to write to their favorite snowman.

Today, Frosty the Snowman has become a Christmas classic, beloved by adults and children alike, and receives widespread radio airplay. In addition, several notable artists have recorded their own versions, including The Jackson Five, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, and Ella Fitzgerald. Most recently, Kimberley Locke released a brand new version, breaking all records by reaching number one on the charts.
