Musique de Noël : Frosty The Snowman

Devenu un chant de Noël très populaire auprès des enfants, Frosty the Snowman succède à Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, autre chanson inspirée par un personnage. Ces deux succès ont également quelques autres points en commun puisque dans un premier temps, ils ont été écrits par les mêmes co-auteurs, soit Walter Jack Rollins et Steve Nelson. Dans un second temps, Frosty the Snowman a été enregistré par Gene Autry en 1950, au même titre d’ailleurs que son succès précédent, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Qui plus est, les deux chansons ont été adaptées pour la télévision, et les deux personnages ont donné naissance à des films, présentés sous forme de dessins animés.

Frosty the Snowman a été à ce point populaire auprès des tout-petits, qu’en 2003, on décidait de créer une page officielle sur MySpace à son effigie. De prime abord, la publication de cette page ne visait qu’un seul but, procurer aux enfants de tout âge un simple passe-temps. Toutefois, le succès engendré fut tel que désormais, elle constitue l’endroit préféré des fans de Frosty, lesquels bénéficient même d’une opportunité tout à fait particulière, celle de pouvoir écrire à leur bonhomme de neige favori.

Aujourd’hui, Frosty the Snowman est devenu un classique de Noël, apprécié tant par les adultes que les enfants, et est abondamment diffusé sur les ondes radiophoniques. En outre, plusieurs artistes illustres ont endisqué leur propre version, dont notamment The Jackson Five, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis et Ella Fitzgerald. Plus récemment, Kimberley Locke lançait une toute nouvelle version, et battait tous les records en se hissant au premier rang du palmarès.
