List of gifts NOT to give…
o Give everyone the same gift. Show everyone special attention if you don't want to hear, "The wholesaler gave you a good price."
o Along the same lines, if you're giving a perfume, for example, avoid giving the same one to your wife or girlfriend and your mother. Instead, find out about the preferences of the person you want to treat; it's more delicate.
o How many Christmases have you been giving your Uncle Henry a tie? Perhaps you haven't noticed that he doesn't wear one anymore now that he's retired... As for Grandma, the bestseller of the year isn't the best choice either since her eyesight no longer allows her to enjoy a long read. Observe your loved ones.
o If it's a big brand and an expensive gift, it's not appropriate to emphasize it to make it more appreciated... Also avoid leaving the price on the gift: it looks a bit mean. To avoid making a mistake, take the time to ask the person in advance about their current tastes: we change and our interests today are not necessarily those of 10 or 15 years ago.
o Also beware of excessively noisy toys that will definitely make your child's parents hate you. Also avoid electronic gadgets or toys that you give to your children with the ulterior motive of playing with them yourself...
o If you're not very good at decorative arts or baking, forget about handmade gifts on the grounds that they're more welcoming.
o Finally, keep in mind that just because you like an object personally does not mean it will bring joy to its recipient.
