Are your children avid foodies? Write down their favorite recipes and ask them to illustrate them themselves. It's then easy to have the pages bound at a copy shop and add a pretty cover that they can also decorate with their own drawings.

A box of thoughts

Purchase a cardboard or lightweight wooden box from a craft store and have your child decorate it with acrylic paint. Ask them to think of 52 sweet thoughts (one for each week of the year), which you will then write down and place in the box. On top of the box, you can write: "To sweeten your week...a thought."

An aromatic potpourri

To make this aromatic gift ornament, take an orange (or any other citrus fruit) and some cloves. Prick the cloves all over the orange. You'll make it easier for kids to prick the citrus fruit with a needle first. You can create geometric patterns or just let your imagination run wild. The fruit, thus treated, can be arranged in a bowl or hung on the tree with a pretty ribbon.
