Chic and eco-friendly handmade gifts
Don't throw away your old CDs
Use CDs to create a chandelier-style lampshade (like the one in the photo below) or a unique mobile. Their glossy appearance will beautifully capture the light from Christmas candles. All you need is a metal ring, brass wire, and nylon thread. Secure the CDs with sturdy knots at different heights, and you're done.
Keep your old sunglasses
Who would have thought that you could create a chandelier by attaching sunglasses to a lamppost? Dutch designer JP Meulendijks has done it. When lit, this lamp creates interesting patterns on the walls.
The lampshade covered with a map
Lovers of travel and discovery will appreciate this original lampshade. Simply collect old road maps in good condition and glue them onto a plain lampshade. It looks great when lit.
A chandelier that doesn't lack ink!
Spanish design team Enpieza created this stunning chandelier by attaching Bic pens to a perforated metal structure. As you can see, even the most humble materials can create stunning works of art.
A bright idea!
We don't throw away used light bulbs when we can create a marvel by attaching them all together around a light tube. Clever, right?
