How do you distribute Christmas gifts?
The master of ceremonies
The same day...not before
Others prefer to wait until the morning of December 25th to open their gifts. When there are children present, the youngest receive theirs first.
The fruits of chance
In recent years, the trend has been spreading to divide adults' gifts into two boxes labeled as follows: one for "Men's Gifts" and another for "Women's Gifts." A maximum amount for each gift has been set in advance and must not be exceeded. Just after Midnight Mass or after New Year's Eve, guests take turns drawing a gift from one or the other box. It is possible to exchange your gift with someone else if that person agrees.
The Great Melee
Some have claimed that since the youngest no longer believes in Santa Claus, they have decided to establish the following tradition: at midnight, and not before, the children are allowed to throw themselves at the presents and then open them all. It is also the only night of the year when everyone is allowed to stay up so late!
