How to personalize Christmas cards?

Une carte personnalisée touche le cœur de la personne qui le reçoit. Avec un peu de créativité et de temps, on réussit à confectionner des cartes originales et uniques. Voici quelques suggestions pour réaliser cette activité artisanale d’avant-Christmas.

There are several options available to decorate these plain white cards, which can be purchased at craft stores: stenciling, stamping, and painting are just a few.

The stencil

Easy as pie. Trace a design onto a blank card—using a coloring-in-picture shape as inspiration—then cut it out of a laminated sheet with a craft knife. Using a foam roller coated with a little acrylic paint, fill in all the empty spaces before gently peeling the sheet off your template. Only the painted design should appear on the card. Test it out a few times first on a piece of drawing paper. Here's a sample:

The stamp

On trouve dans le commerce une large variété de tampons de caoutchouc représentant des icônes de Noël (sapin, boules, flocons, Santa Claus, et autres). Avec un peu d’encre de couleur ou même de la peinture acrylique diluée, enduisez le tampon et appliquez-le doucement mais fermement sur les deux faces extérieures de la carte vierge. Pour plus de fantaisie, collez quelques petites étoiles dorées ou argentées ici et là à travers le réseau de motifs.

The painting
A few pots of metallic paint (2 colors) with a glossy finish, a little watercolor paint in the color of your choice, 1 flat brush and 1 pointed brush are all you need to make artistic cards. Use the watercolor paint to coat the background (without soaking), let it dry, then draw a Christmas design with the pointed brush using the metallic paint. Double the outline with the other color.
