In Franche-Comt\u00e9, for example, legend has it that during midnight mass, a pyramidal rock would turn on itself three times in a row, at the very moment when the priest would read the genealogy of the Savior. In the Vosges, a similar legend circulates, to the effect that the turning stone would start moving at the sound of the bells of Remiremont, calling the faithful to midnight mass. Moreover, the legend of the turning stones seems very popular, since it is also found in the Pays de Caux, in Mini\u00e8res in Manche, in Saint-Mirel in Pl\u00e9n\u00e9e-Jugon, as well as in Tancarville and Griquetot-sur-Ouville.<\/p>\n
