Chaque ann\u00e9e, 70 artisans et artistes s\u2019y donnent rendez-vous et attirent 12\u00a0000 visiteurs.<\/p>\n

Si les artisans sont s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s pour l\u2019originalit\u00e9 de leurs cr\u00e9ations, les animations et les personnages qui y participent rel\u00e8vent du conte et de la fantaisie. Parmi les \u00e9tals, vous rencontrerez des f\u00e9es, des trolls, des gnomes, des monstres sympathiques et des sorci\u00e8res de toutes sortes. This Christmas market, always open despite the weather, showcases crafts, whether simple hobby, artistic, professional, or gastronomic. The items on display are always of high quality and there is something for every budget. Several food stalls offer something to satisfy even the biggest appetites.<\/p>\n

Historical reference<\/strong><\/p>\n

The caves, which are more precisely former flint and tuffeau quarries, are more than two thousand years old, like all the others in the region. Small excavations dug to extract sand and marl, they have grown over the centuries. The paths intersect and uncross to form a veritable labyrinth.<\/p>\n

After the departure of the Romans, the natives continued to extract tuffeau and flint, which they used mainly for construction, and made it a flourishing industry.<\/p>\n

The Wonck Caves have always sheltered the villagers during the numerous wars that took place in the region. Towards the end of the 19th century,e<\/sup> century, the caves became a real natural laboratory for growing the famous Paris mushrooms.<\/p>\n
