Pour \u00e9crire ce chant, les co-auteurs se sont inspir\u00e9s du d\u00e9sir des soldats participant \u00e0 la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, et souhaitant \u00eatre de retour aupr\u00e8s de leur famille \u00e0 No\u00ebl. D\u00e8s sa premi\u00e8re diffusion, I\u2019ll Be Home for Christmas connut un immense succ\u00e8s, \u00e0 un tel point que la version de Bing Crosby, enregistr\u00e9e en 1943, se hissa dans le Top 10 des chansons traditionnelles de No\u00ebl.  <\/p>\n<p>When the soldiers heard it while they were in the trenches, many were moved, and some even shed a few tears. This dream that everyone had of spending Christmas at home unfortunately did not come true, as mentioned in the song with these few words &quot;If only in my dreams&quot;, which can be translated as &quot;If only in my dreams&quot;. <\/p>\n<p>While many artists have recorded their own versions, Bing Crosby&#039;s version remains the most popular of all, and still is today. In fact, just a month after its release, the song reached number 3 on the charts, a position it held for eleven consecutive weeks. Andy Williams, Anne Murray, Barbara Streisand, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and Michael Bubl\u00e9 are among those who have lent their voices to this famous Christmas song. <\/p>\n<p>In December 1965, I&#039;ll Be Home for Christmas brought a smile to the faces of many NASA&#039;s Space Air Program communications staff. As astronauts Frank Borman and Jim Lovell were hurtling back to Earth after a 14-day flight in space, the communications staff asked them if they would like to hear a particular song to mark their return.
