Il faut remonter aussi loin qu\u2019au IIe si\u00e8cle pour voir appara\u00eetre les toutes premi\u00e8res traces de l\u2019existence d\u2019une f\u00eate chr\u00e9tienne, laquelle avant cette date n\u2019existait pas. Toutefois, l\u2019empire romain ne s\u2019\u00e9tant christianis\u00e9 qu\u2019au IVe si\u00e8cle, ce n\u2019est qu\u2019\u00e0 partir de cette \u00e9poque que l\u2019on observe le remplacement de la f\u00eate du solstice par celle de No\u00ebl. <\/p>\n

If we return to the origins of Christianity, we discover that the Jewish faithful celebrated the beginning of a new era every year during the month of December. Furthermore, by referring to the Gospel according to St. John, we can read that the Feast of Dedication took place in December. This combined information therefore suggests the link between the feast of Christmas and that of the solstice. Also associated with the joy brought by the lengthening of the days, and that aroused by the birth of the Redeemer, we can also speculate on these motives to understand the transformation of this winter festival, which later became a Christian festival. <\/p>\n

However, since the exact date of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth remains a mystery, and it is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible, this date, fixed at December 25, is purely conventional. Today, having become an almost strictly commercial holiday, and although celebrated throughout the world, Christmas has practically nothing of its religious character.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
