En effet, on pla\u00e7ait dans l\u2019\u00e2tre une b\u00fbche qui devait br\u00fbler constamment du 24 d\u00e9cembre jusqu\u2019au Nouvel An. Ce geste s\u2019apparentait aux c\u00e9l\u00e9brations pa\u00efennes d\u00e9di\u00e9es au solstice d\u2019hiver<\/p>\n<p>On devait couper une large b\u00fbche de bois dur ou m\u00eame une souche compl\u00e8te provenant, id\u00e9alement, d\u2019un arbre fruitier de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blognoel.com\/en\/christmas-songs\/\">son<\/a> jardin. Ladite b\u00fbche devait avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9lev\u00e9e avant que le soleil ne se l\u00e8ve. On la d\u00e9corait de rubans avant de l\u2019installer dans le foyer.<\/p>\n<p>In France, the number of logs placed in the hearth had to correspond to the number of people living in the house. The head of the family would bless the hearth with salt water or sometimes with a little wine. <\/p>\n<p>Since tradition dictated that the log should not be touched with such an instrument, it had to be handled with one&#039;s hands...with great care. If the fire produced sparks, it meant that the next summer&#039;s harvest would be good. If silhouettes appeared on the walls, it was believed that a member of the family would die during the year.<\/p>\n<p>The ashes were always kept to make certain ointments to treat certain pathologies, to fertilize the earth and ward off storms.  <\/p>\n<p>It is in honor of this ritual that the Christmas log has transformed, over time, into a tasty dessert that a French pastry chef is said to have created in 1945. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This delicious cake, the Yule log, dates back to a very ancient custom that existed in several European countries towards the end of the medieval period.
