Les premiers contes de Christmas<\/a> \u00e9taient davantage chant\u00e9s que racont\u00e9s, par les troubadours du Moyen Age. Les anciens se sont mis \u00e0 les colporter \u00e0 la veill\u00e9e, peu avant la messe de No\u00ebl. <\/p>\n

Il s\u2019agissait de contes inspir\u00e9s des \u00c9vangiles, \u00e9labor\u00e9s autour de l\u2019Histoire sainte et de la Nativit\u00e9. Parall\u00e8lement, dans les chaumi\u00e8res, on \u00e9changeait \u00e0 voix basse des contes dont les animaux \u00e9taient les h\u00e9ros. Par exemple, celui du rossignol qui avait r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 endormir l\u2019Enfant-Jesus<\/a> par son chant si doux, ou l\u2019autre qui rapportait qu\u2019une araign\u00e9e au grand c\u0153ur avait tiss\u00e9 sa toile \u00e0 toute vitesse pour cacher l\u2019entr\u00e9e de la cr\u00e8che o\u00f9 se trouvait la Sainte Famille. Ou encore cette l\u00e9gende qui raconte que du bl\u00e9 sem\u00e9 avait pouss\u00e9 et m\u00fbri en une journ\u00e9e pour que les paysans puissent r\u00e9pondre aux soldats d\u2019H\u00e9rode sans mentir qu\u2019ils n\u2019avaient vu passer aucun couple avec un enfant.<\/p>\n

Over the years, stories have carved out a place for themselves in the magic of Christmas. People began to talk about hidden treasures that were only discovered at Midnight Mass or miracles that only happened on Christmas Eve. Some daredevils claimed to have heard farm animals start talking to each other that night. From there, it was a short step to trying to scare each other with stories of ghosts appearing on the church steps and coming to take their place at Christmas Eve. In France, many families left a little bread and butter on the table for potential visitors from the other world.<\/p>\n

It wasn't until the 18th century that Christmas stories became less about religion and superstition. Instead, they began to evoke the good and beautiful things Christmas brought out in people's hearts. The story developed into a literary genre that would last until the interwar period. <\/p>\n

Towards the end of the 19th century, magazines and newspapers published their Christmas tales every year. This is how we were able to discover and remember wonderful texts such as "The Nightmare Before Christmas", "The Little Match Girl", "The Two Christmas Trees" and "The Little Shoes". <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
