Upcoming release of the album “Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!!”, by Michel Legrand

For the occasion, renowned artists including Rufus Wainwright, Mika, Iggy Pop, Emilie Simon, Olivia Ruiz, Matthieu Chedid, Coeur de Pirate, Ayo, Jamie Cullum, -M-, Renan Luce, and Madeleine Peyroux, participated in this album. The new mother for a second time, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, agreed to perform two pieces on this album ("Jolis Sapins" and "Noël d'espoir") to pay tribute to the composer. The First Lady of France had not released anything since her third CD, in 2008. Michel Legrand himself conducts the symphony orchestra and a jazz big band was also invited to the recording, which took place in New York. Most of the artists had never worked together.
A prolific career
Michel Legrand, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in 2012, has a long musical career behind him. The mark he left on cinema remains indelible. Indeed, he is responsible for a wide range of film soundtracks, dating back to the 1950s. Recipient of an Oscar and numerous other official recognitions, Michel Legrand was keen to take on a new challenge: to record, himself, a compilation of the most beautiful Christmas songs. The selection of popular artists he surrounded himself with for the production of this CD already ensures its quality. For example, Mika performs "Le vent d'hiver" and Mathieu Chedid "Douce Nuit".
