Crafts: Make a felt Christmas tree
For the holiday season, why not decorate your office with this easy-to-make felt tree? Here are a few steps to follow for this project.
The material
You will need the following items: four sheets of green and brown felt, narrow ribbons, small pine cones, a glue gun, cardboard, and tissue paper to fill the felt.
The steps
Start by reproducing these two fir tree models and cutting out the outlines.
Then cut down the center of each tree, along the dotted line, halfway down its height. You should have two pieces with a slit at the top of the tree and two trees with an opening at the bottom.
Then use these templates to reproduce the shape in the green felt.
Coat the inside edges of two identical trees placed one on top of the other with glue, so that the center can be stuffed with tissue paper or other soft paper. The handle of a paintbrush can help you push the paper down so that it also covers the tips. Then glue the base of the two trees together. Repeat the process for the other two cut-out shapes.
Then assemble the two shapes and glue brown felt onto the base of the tree to imitate the trunk.
The decoration
To decorate your tree, use ribbon to create garlands and pine cones glued here and there. You can also add small colored glass beads and a small star attached to the top of the tree.
A little kitsch perhaps...but oh so charming.
