Bien qu\u2019il n\u2019ait v\u00e9cu que trente-quatre ans, cet auteur, d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 de la tuberculose, laisse derri\u00e8re lui une compilation de 80 chansons. Si l\u2019on se r\u00e9f\u00e8re au Reader\u2019s Digest Merry Christmas Song Book, Benjamin Hanby serait le premier \u00e0 avoir \u00e9voqu\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9 que le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blognoel.com\/de\/charaktere\/weihnachtsmann\/\">Weihnachtsmann<\/a> puisse atterrir sur le toit des maisons, de l\u00e0 son inspiration. On consid\u00e8re \u00e9galement que cette chanson la\u00efque, deuxi\u00e8me plus ancienne apr\u00e8s Jingle Bells, serait la toute premi\u00e8re \u00e0 faire r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au P\u00e8re No\u00ebl. <\/p>\n<p>Anfangs hatte \u201eUp on the Housetop\u201c nicht den erhofften Erfolg, ganz im Gegenteil. Doch im Laufe der Jahre wuchs seine Popularit\u00e4t allm\u00e4hlich, bis es heute ein Hit ist. Tats\u00e4chlich stieg die 2005 von Kimberly Locke aufgenommene Version in nur einer Woche von Platz 32 der US-Billboard-Charts auf Platz 5, bevor sie Platz 1 erreichte, wo sie vier Wochen in Folge blieb. <\/p>\n<p>\u201eUp on the Housetop\u201c wurde zuvor von mehreren K\u00fcnstlern aufgenommen, jedoch ohne vergleichbaren Erfolg. Gene Autry, der mit \u201eRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer\u201c und \u201eFrosty the Snowman\u201c ber\u00fchmt wurde, war einer von ihnen.
