Elle diff\u00e8re quelque peu des chants traditionnels de No\u00ebl, puisque les paroles mentionnent la tenue d\u2019un festival se d\u00e9roulant dans une ville, alors que dans la plupart des autres chansons festives, la sc\u00e8ne a presque toujours lieu dans un milieu rural. Qui plus est, fait particulier, Silver Bells a bien failli ne jamais voir le jour. En effet, l\u2019\u00e9pouse de Ray Evans, offusqu\u00e9e par le titre et les paroles, lesquels font tous deux r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 Tinkle Bells (tintement de cloches), s\u2019opposait \u00e0 sa publication. <\/p>\n<p>Es ist zu beachten, dass das Wort \u201eTinkle\u201c im Englischen eine doppelte Bedeutung haben kann und als umgangssprachlicher Ausdruck f\u00fcr das Urinieren von Kindern \u00fcbersetzt werden kann. Ray Evans r\u00e4umte zwar ein, dass es zu Verwirrung kommen k\u00f6nnte, entschied sich jedoch trotz der Warnung seiner Frau, weder den Text noch den Titel zu \u00e4ndern. Ein Gl\u00fcck, denn dieses Lied erfreut sich gro\u00dfer Beliebtheit und ist auch heute noch eines der traditionellen Lieder, die h\u00e4ufig w\u00e4hrend der Weihnachtszeit gespielt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Inspiriert von den Glockenl\u00e4utern der Heilsarmee ver\u00f6ffentlichten Livingston und Evans zu Recht \u201eSilver Bells\u201c, denn die erste Version, aufgenommen von Bing Crosby und Carole Richard im Oktober 1950, schoss schnell in die Charts.
