Isaac Watts en est l\u2019auteur, et pour en \u00e9crire les paroles, il s\u2019est inspir\u00e9 d\u2019un hymne anglais, puis\u00e9 \u00e0 m\u00eame le Psaume 98 de la Bible. Toutefois, si l\u2019on retourne \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque fort lointaine, les cantiques de No\u00ebl n\u2019existaient pas en tant que tel, et au moment de sa publication, Joy to the World se voulait plut\u00f4t un hymne destin\u00e9 \u00e0 rendre hommage au retour du Christ. D\u2019ailleurs, en se r\u00e9f\u00e9rant aux paroles contenues originalement dans la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blognoel.com\/de\/weihnachtslieder\/\">Lied<\/a>, on constate que seule la seconde partie a \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9e dans la version actuelle.<\/p>\n<p>Die 1839 adaptierte Melodie zum Text stammt aus einer sehr alten Melodie, von der nur ein Teil dem Komponisten H\u00e4ndel zugeschrieben wird. Von diesem anderen Autor, der H\u00e4ndels Werk vollendet haben soll, ist jedoch keine Spur zu finden. Kurz gesagt: Erst Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde \u201eJoy to the World\u201c endg\u00fcltig zu dem Weihnachtslied, das heute jeder summt.
